M0ZIF's Biography

Martin at Lancaster Castle, Feb, 2009

About Martin

I've never been one for nicknames, in fact most I've never been called by my Sirname, and I've never had my name shortened. Why I am not sure, but the few people that do use my nickname oddly only use it online! So what is my Nickname? "Lichehazel" I am a D&D Player.

What are my ambitions: To own a farm, for my Hair to go white (Its started but its slow going this getting old lark).

I am currently not working due to Lyme Disease, C.F.I.D.S, Aquired Muscular Dystophy and Fibromyalgia. However this doesn't mean I sit arround all day doing nothing I read lots and currently keep a few recent ones posted to Shelfari. I am also interested in many other things.

Before I had to take time out due to illness I was working for Microsoft as a Intranet Application Developer. I've also done all sorts of other jobs including temp work and taught at a University. In my Youth I was also a member of a number of Brass Bands, including the Award winning Youth Brass 2000. I have never been adverse to a bit of hard honest work, and just wish my health would improve to the point where I could again work full time.

I am married with 5 Children, and my other interests include: Reading, RPGing, I run D&D 4e games), Programming, First Aid*, and Music. More about my day to day life can be found Here on Livejournal which I have had an account for what seems like forever.

* I am a British Red Cross Volunteer.

My original callsign M3VQE wasn't really chosen for any other reason other than the fact that it was nice and easy to remember. But this got coined  ME Very Quiet Echo by my dear wife, whom is always looking for comedy.

Why the callsign 2E0DMZ well I am a self professed G33K in I.T. a DMZ is a Demilitarized zone in which Servers reside, and as a programmer that has worked with web technologies for years it seemed only appropriate. I have been involved in the Internet and web technologies since the webs inception (in fact I remember working BBS's and UseNet before the web and GUI came along)

My Full callsign which I got in May 2009 was again like the M3 there was a very limited amount of callsigns left so I was disappointed that I couldn't continue with the DMZ theme but one of the few computing related ones I could find was M0ZIF (Zifs are slots for chips). But since then Someone *Not my Wife this time* has stated that it looks like Moses (erm Not). A couple of amateurs have also noted this and think its quite Ironic that a Pagan has a callsign like this. When the new callsigns come in, I may try to change it, but who knows I might have grown more attatched to it by then.

Martin again but different

Beyond that I am a community spirited guy always trying to resolve problems and work round issues to get people communicating, sometimes far after I should have given up, but someone has got to do it, and thats my thoughts on life. What do I want for the future? Happy fully functional children who live in a happy world. (well the happy world here's to wishing.)
