Work, a Brief History
I didn't start out wanting to be in any way technical. When I was 13 I wanted to be either a swimmer which I was rather mediocre at or a long distance runner. Health put a stop to that though. Through school all I wanted to be was a musician. I played percussion and Brass. In my time I played for the contest winning Beanfield School Brass Band, Kingswood Comprehensive school Brass Band, Youth Brass2000, Corby Town brass, Ancient Order of Foresters and many many more. I also played with many many orchestras and have written over 20 full orchestral scores, a few of which have been played on national radio, and more.
I got involved in HTML in its infancy, after discovering Computer Music being a non PC person in those days (Having a Commodore Amiga then an Apple Mac) I had to write my own software patches and learn how to do my own support. Long before community groups and forums! I got involved in PC's by accident 12 years ago whilst working for the Xerox group.
After leaving school with pretty much no usable qualifications (a double music and a double Religious Studies GCSE) I worked in Telesales for various magazines, newspapers and market research groups.
I've also worked as a temp in jobs as diverse as a Tomato Sauce re-cycler for Golden West (who supply McDonnalds) to packer, and t-shirt printer.
I have over the years gained many more usable qualifications including a Doctorate in Musicology, A levels in Psychology and Sociology, Various proffessional qualifiations whilst working for Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems.
